Mushrooms - Vintage
Mushrooms have long been associated with Fairies, magical powers and
mystery (particularly surrounding their sudden appearance and unusual forms).
Their alternate name of "toadstool" gives a sense of the whimsy of
nature. We
know they also have strong chemical compounds, nutritional value, and certain
varieties are highly sought for their gastronomic qualities. They are
considered good luck symbols in Germany and other parts of Europe. Mushroom
ornaments some of the oldest forms of European Christmas ornaments and are part
of the long tradition of celebrating the wonders of nature within our Christmas
traditions.
